Menter Cwm Gwendraeth Elli manages the Ownzone scheme in three of the county’s comprehensive schools. Ownzone provides an opportunity for pupils to spend time outside school in a safe place where they can access personal support and various activities.
The main ai of Ownzone is to provide study support and various activities to encourage learning outside school hours. One of the project’s main objectives is to raise the pupils’ self confidence and increase participation.
Ownzone has an important role in creating effective partnerships that can help children and young people between the ages of 10 and 14.
In addition to working closely with the three comprehensive schools we have been creating external partnerships for the project and have worked with the feeder primary schools.
Ownzone operates in Bro Myrddin, Strade and Amman Valley Schools and gives the students the opportunity to contribute to the planning and organising of activities and gain ownership of what’s happening. The young people will have the following:
